A new 1.5 million square foot development project that will be a high end, pedestrian oriented, lifestyle center that will serve as a destination and community gathering place located on 77 acres. This mixed use development will feature an assortment of premier retailers, restaurants and cafes, a 14-screen cinema, and office space.

The Commons

This is a new project on the former Downey Ford site (southeast corner of Lakewood and Gallatin).  The developer plans to demolish all buildings on site and construct approximately 17,000 square feet of restaurant space (within 2 buildings).

Downey Crossroads

This new project is on the former Downey Lincoln Mercury site (southwest corner of Lakewood and Gallatin).  The developer will demolish about half of the existing buildings and conduct a façade remodel on the remainder.  Additionally, they will build a new restaurant with drive-thru on the site.

Centerpointe

This is the KB Home project on the former Gallatin Medical Site.  The project is to construct 117 new 3-story townhomes on the site that range from 2,180 s.f. to 2,720 s.f., which includes the attached two-car garage.  Additionally, guest parking spaces, park areas, and a playground are included on the site.

The City of Downey was awarded a grant to prepare a new specific plan for this area, which will include a train station design for a future transit stop.

Vallarta is taking over the former Beach’s Market.  They will conduct a small addition to the building, a façade remodel, and site rehabilitation.  In addition, Starbucks has submitted a plan to construct a new location 1,850 square foot coffee shop with drive-thru next to the proposed Vallarta Market.  The project will include demolishing the former Bakers Square building and constructing the coffee shop.
