On Saturday, November 19, 2011 Downey Fire responded to the 7600 block of Pivot Street to a reported Gun Shot Victim. Upon arrival, Downey Fire Engine 61 found two adult males suffering from multiple gun shot wounds. Paramedics initiated advance life support and transported the victims to St. Francis Medical-Trauma Center in critical condition. More... |

On November 15th at 3:49 pm Downey Fire Department units responded an enhanced commercial structure fire response to the 10400 block of Paramount Blvd. Joint Powers Communications Center advised flames reported seen from the roof of the large multi-building apartment complex. Upon Engine 61's arrival, they reported smoke showing to the rear of the complex. Hose lines were deployed to a 2nd floor involved apartment unit. Additional companies performed search operations while the adjacent exposures were protected and truck operations completed. The fire was quickly contained and extinguished. Upon knockdown, one firefighter reported injuries requiring paramedic treatment on-scene, and was quickly transported to a local hospital for further medical care. More... |

On Wednesday, November 9, 2011 Downey Fire responded to a reported apartment fire in the 9100 block of Florence Avenue. Upon arrival, Downey Fire made way to the 3rd floor where they found the hallway charged with heavy smoke. Flames were observed emanating from an apartment unit and extending into the common hallway. Upon arrival, Engine 63’s was informed of a dryer fire on the first floor. The fire was contained to the dryer area as a result of an activated sprinkler head.
