On November 23, 2010 at 17:12 hours, Downey Engines 61, 62, Truck 611, Battalion 604, and LA County Engine 57 responded to the 12500 block of Old River School Road for a reported natural gas leak inside a structure. Upon arrival, Downey Fire found a vehicle that struck the apartment building causing damage to a natural gas line resulting in a leak inside the apartment building. Downey Fire personnel evacuated the area, shut down the gas meters, and ventilated the apartment units. Southern California Gas Company responded to location for repairs to the gas line. Downey Fire remained on-scene conducting atmospheric monitoring of the residential units until repairs completed and it was deemed safe for the residents to reoccupy the building.
