On January 23, 2011 at 12:24 hours, Downey Fire responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 7300 block of Dinwiddie Street. Downey Fire arrived at the location within 4 minutes of the call to find a working fire with light smoke venting from the rear of the single family residence. Downey Engine 63, 61, 64 with Truck 611, Squad 641 with assistance from LA County Fire E39 and Santa Fe Springs 811 responded to the scene. Under the command of 604 (Battalion Chief Gillaspie), E63 and 61 were assigned to fire attack with Squad 641 personnel conducting a primary search of the residence interior for occupants. Truck 611 assumed forcible entry for the fire attack group and conducted ventilation operations. Upon arrival on-scene, E64 was assigned as the RIC group and performed interior salvage. The fire was confined to the room of origin, the front bedroom. Fortunately the occupants were not home at the time of the fire having left the residence 30 minutes prior to the incident. Downey Investigators 623 and 633 responded to the location to conduct a fire origin investigation. Fire cause is yet to be determined. The fire caused no structural damage; however, moderate smoke damage occurred throughout the house.
