Cardiac Arrest Save - Bob's Big Boy Restaurant

On January 23, 2011 at 12:52 hours, upon clearing a residential fire call; Downey Engine 64 was dispatched to a choking person at Bob's Big Boy restaurant at 7447 Firestone Blvd.  E64 arrived at location within 2 minutes, and upon arrival, E64 personnel reported an adult male not breathing and pulseless.  E64 personnel initiated CPR until advance life support measures could be implemented by Downey Fire Paramedics.  Squad 642 Paramedics assessed the patient's airway and removed a large piece of food.  The patient remained in cardiac arrest and was transported to Kaiser Hospital Downey.  While enroute to the hospital, the patient reacquired a pulse and began talking.  The patient is expected to make a full recovery.
