On February 4, 2011 at 11:46 hours, Downey Fire responded to a report of flooding at Downey Regional Medical Center (DRMC). Downey Engine 61 responded to location to find a significant domestic water leak on the second floor, directly above the hospital's lobby area. Engine 61 requested additional assistance from Downey Truck 611, with Battalion 604 and Utility 629 also responding. Due to the major flooding, the hospital went into Internal Disaster mode until the incident was stabilized. Hospital Engineering was able to shut down the water to the affected area thus minimizing additional damage, and repair the broken line. Downey Fire units remained on-scene and assisted DRMC staff for approximately 1 1/2 hours until the incident was resolved.
