The City Council of the City of Downey is encouraging Downey Youth to apply for the Downey Youth Commission, which was established by the City Council earlier this year. The Commission is for high school students who are interested in learning about local government and would like to be more active in the community. The Commission will serve in an advisory capacity to the Downey City Council and will meet regularly every month.
The 15 volunteer commissioners will be selected from eligible applicants, who must be a Downey resident, enrolled in a high school (grades 9-12) and be available to meet monthly afterschool for commission meetings. Students interested in applying are encouraged to submit the Youth Application, which can be accessed by clicking on the link below, by no later than Friday, September 16, 2011 to the following address: City Manager’s Office, 11111 Brookshire Ave, Downey, CA 90241.
