On Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 20:21 hours, Downey Engines 61, 62, 63, with Truck 611 and Squad 642 under the command of Battalion 604 (BC Seely) responded to a report of smoke coming from a residence in the 12600 block of Glenshire Road. Downey Engine 62 arrived on scene to find moderate smoke emanating from several windows of the single family residence. Engine 62 initiated a fire attack and found a fully involved room and contents fire in the residence’s bathroom. The fire had pushed high heat and smoke throughout the structure. Downey Fire units conducted a search for victims with Truck 611 providing positive pressure ventilation. The residence was free of occupants and once fire control had been achieved, Downey Fire personnel were able to rescue several parrots and a dog from the structure. Downey Fire Investigator Patao responded to the location to conduct a cause and origin investigation.
