The City of Downey receives federal dollars and is asking its residents for their input on how to spend the money. Examples of how the money may be spent includes but is not limited to, business incentives, road improvement, street lighting, sidewalks, residential rehabilitation programs, affordable housing assistance, first-time homebuyer programs, etc.
The City has scheduled a 3rd community meeting for the City’s federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME) for Fiscal Year 2016-2017; the City is now working on the required Action Plan and application for these federal grants. The meeting will be provided to give those in attendance information on these federal programs, and allow an opportunity to provide input in the annual development process. Interested Downey residents and representatives of public service providers are encouraged to attend and comment on the City’s housing and non-housing needs, program priorities and propose uses for either of these funding sources. The City estimates it will receive $1,027,677 in CDBG and $324,554 in HOME funds for the Fiscal Year 2016-2017. Community meeting will be held on:
Thursday, March 10th at 6:30 p.m.
