On Thursday, July 29 at approximately 19:00 hours, Downey Dispatch Center received a mutual aid request from Los Angeles County Fire for assistance on a brush fire threatening homes in the Palmdale area. Strike Team 1280A consisting of Engine Companies from the Vernon, Compton, Montebello, Downey, and Santa Fe Springs Fire Departments, under the command of Downey Battalion Chief Bruce English (604), were dispatched to the Crown Fire Incident. Upon arrival, Strike Team 1280A was assigned to structure protection in the area of T-Bar Ranch Road where crews fought fire throughout the night, providing structure protection. Captain Holcombe, Engineer Culhno, Firefighters Simmons and Moffett should be commended for their hard work throughout the incident. The crews were released from the incident on Saturday, July 31. All personnel returned safely without injuries.
