Family Twilight Nights at the Pool

The entire family is invited to spend a warm summer evening at the Downey Community Aquatic Center. Special activities include ping-pong, table games and contests. Snack Bar items will be on sale. Proper swim attire is required.  Open to all ages.

Halloween
Halloween Pumpkin Patch

The Annual Pumpkin Patch will be held on Sunday, October 31st from 5 pm – 9 pm at the backlot of Barbara J. Riley Community and Senior Center (BJR).   Admission is free and the event features free carnival games, costume contest for toddlers to adults, spooky crafts ages 2-6, glow walk and free popcorn, cotton candy, hot dogs, drinks to all in attendance. This event is co-sponsored by the City of Downey, Optimist and Soroptimist Clubs of Downey.   This is a great family event and provides for a fun and safe alternative to walking the streets.  View flyer in English and/or Spanish.

Kids Day

The Annual Kids Day Event is the 2nd Saturday in May at Furman Park   A celebration of youth and their families.  Kids Day promotes healthy living in a caring community and gives youth and teens and opportunity to participate in a Fun Run, enjoy entertainment from their peers, participate in carnival games, stay active on the inflatable slide, see demonstrations from the Downey Police and Fire Departments and observe how families can protect their community with education from displays and demonstrations provided by the Public Works Department at the Environmental Fair.  Parents have the opportunity to meet many vendors who care about the community and serve as resources on important issues to families.  Everyone in attendance will enjoy entertainment from local musicians plus food and beverages will be available through the event provided by local youth sports organizations.
