Dennis the Menace Park

Dennis the Menace Park is a popular location for birthday parties and family picnics. The park has a playground designed for children 5 -12 years of age. There are restrooms available to the public during hours of operation. The parking lot is secured and locked at the close of each day.

The park has open green space for picnicking, picnic tables, and barbeques available on a first-come, first-served basis. The picnic shelter is available for rent on Saturday and Sunday.

You must be a resident of the City of Downey to reserve a park facility. Proof of residency is required; a current utility bill with a Downey address (gas, water, electric or landline) and a matching California driver’s license or California identification must be presented at the time the reservation is made. Reservations must be made a minimum of (2) two weeks to a maximum of six months prior to the scheduled event. Hours of operation do not represent hours available for facility reservations and fluctuate seasonally.

All reservations must be made in person and are based on a first-come first-serve basis.  No reservations will be taken over the telephone, email, mail or fax. A completed reservation form must be submitted in person Monday – Friday, except for City holidays, at the Parks and Recreation Department located at: 7850 Quill Drive, Downey, CA 90242. Office hours are 8:30 am – 5:30 pm.
