26th Annual Kids Day:

“Building Healthy Youth...Eat Right...Live Right"
Saturday, May 11, 2013

10am – 4pm

Furman Park – 10419 Rives Avenue

Kids Day promotes healthy living in a caring community and gives youth and teens an opportunity to participate in a 2k Fun Run, enjoy entertainment from their peers, participate in carnival games, visit information booths, see demonstrations from the Downey Police and Fire Departments, and observe how families can protect their community with education from the displays and demonstrations provided by the Public Works Department at the Environmental Fair. The whole family can also enjoy fabulous food and entertainment.  Food and beverages provided by local youth sports organizations.

For additional information on providing a food booth, information booth, or becoming a sponsor or volunteer please fill out and submit the 2013 Information packet and interest form.
  
 

The Fun Run will be 2K (1.3 miles) around Furman Park.  The first 25 participants who cross the finish line, will receive a Fun Run medal.  All pre-registrations prior to the day of will receive a goodie bag!

The City of Downey’s Hall of Fame Program recognizes the extraordinary achievements of Downey’s youth grades 1-8 who are achieving academic and athletic excellence and helping to improve their community through the spirit of volunteerism.

To nominate a student please fill out our 2013 Hall of Fame Nomination Form.

Nomination forms are due Friday, March 8, 2013 by 5:30pm.  Forms can be submitted to the Parks & Recreation Office (7850 Quill Drive) or the Barbara J. Riley Community and Senior Center.  For more information, please call (562) 904-7227.  We need your help in recognizing the outstanding youth from Downey - please nominate a worthy candidate!
