9:15  AM Story Time for Babies and Toddlers
Join us for baby and toddler reading and listening fun with stories, rhymes, songs and finger plays.  We will share Eric Carle's The Very Ready Reading Program for children from birth to 24 months.  Experience his 7 Days - 7 Ways philosophy of re-reading fund with your babies and toddlers.  Our program is for individual children ages 0 to 2 years old and their parents/caregivers (no groups or schools, please).  There will not be a Story Time on Saturday, October 18.
10:00  AM Friends of the Downey City Library Open House and Holiday Marketplace
Start your holiday shopping early! Join us for a cup of free hot wassail punch while enjoying our marketplace of handmade crafts, fall and Christmas decorations, baked goodies, stocking stuffers, decorating and holiday craft books, and quality recycled gifts and treasures.  Also, enter the "One Day Only" raffle for great prizes!  No registration necessary.  Public welcome!  Note:  All proceeds to benefit the Downey City Library.
12:30  PM Veteran Read-a-Thon and Craft Event
Stories will be read aloud by local veterans and children will make a Veterans Day craft.  Every child will be given a free book about military families.

6:30  PM Veteran Panel Discussion
Library staff will lead a meaningful panel discussion with veterans on their experiences of going to war and the issues they face on returning home. (Free event).

10:30  AM Preschool Story Time
Join us every Tuesday morning for a fun reading experience.  We will read stories, sing songs, dance, play, and have a great time.  This program is for individual children ages 3 to 5 years old and their parents/caregivers (no groups or schools, please).
