Book the Reference Librarian

The Book the Reference Librarian service provides individual bibliographic and research instruction in the library for anyone who may have an in-depth research question or who needs personalized assistance in using library resources. Call (562)904-7360 x116 to set up an appointment with Nancy Munoz, the Reference Librarian. There are no set hours for this service. Availability on days and times is not guaranteed. Appointments are made on days and times both parties are available so please call early to reserve the best time and day for your appointment.

Typewriter

The library has an electric typewriter located in the Magazine Room. Correction tape and an instruction manual are included. It is available on a first-come-first-served basis, and the charge is 50¢ per 20 minutes. Please bring your own paper.

Print Card for Photocopiers and Printers

Photocopies in the library are 15¢ per copy for black and white copies, copies from microfilm, or computer printouts. The photocopiers either use coins or a plastic "print card" with a magnetic strip which may be purchased from a vending machine located near the copy machine in the Young Adult Area. The initial cost is $1.00 to purchase a card with 50¢ of value and additional value can be added as needed. Keep the print card because the remaining value can be used at a later date. The printers at the Word Processing and Internet computers do not take coins, so you must use a copy card. Color photocopies are also available at 75¢ per copy (coin only).

Express Check-Out

The Express Check-Out workstation for books is located in the lobby near the public service counters. You may check your own books out without waiting in line. A receipt will be printed for all the items you check out.

Books on Wheels

The Assistance League of Downey, in partnership with the Downey City Library, delivers books to homebound residents. A volunteer from the Assistance League will deliver the books to you, collect the ones to be returned to the library, and inquire what you might like to read next. If you are interested in receiving this free service, please contact Circulation office at (562) 904-7360 x130.
