The Downey Youth Commission serves in an advisory capacity to the Downey City Council and comprises of 15 high school student representatives who reside in the City of Downey.
The goals of the Downey Youth Commission are to provide:
- Leadership development;
- Civic/local government education;
- Youth input to the City Council; and
- Completion of annual assignments/priorities from the City Council.

The Youth Commission is currently accepting applications for the 25.26 School Year. Applications are due to the City Clerk's office located at City Hall on the 3rd floor by the EXTENDED DEADLINE of Thursday, June 26th 4:00 p.m..
