The Fleet Maintenance Section (Central Garage) maintains and repairs all City vehicles and equipment, except those of the Fire Department. The fleet includes 371 vehicles and about 60 pieces of specialized equipment, ranging from passenger cars and police units to heavy machinery and utility vehicles. The section also manages DMV and CHP records, permits, inspections, fuel facilities, and emergency generators. Staff prepare specifications for new equipment, oversee surplus auctions, and provide emergency roadside service. The Central Garage is ASE Blue Seal certified, with all technicians holding Automotive Service Excellence credentials.
