The Sanitary Sewer Division complies with State Water Resources Control Board requirements for sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) by operating and maintaining 193 miles of sewer mains, two lift stations, and 4,250 manholes. Work includes video inspection, cleaning, flushing, and repairs to prevent SSOs. 

Sewer System Management Plan

The State Water Resources Control Board requires public sewer systems to maintain a Sewer System Management Plan (SSMP), which outlines how the City operates, maintains, and manages its sanitary sewer system to prevent and mitigate spills. The City updates its SSMP regularly to remain in compliance.
