All dogs belonging to Downey residents must be licensed. Licensing is handled through the South East Area Animal Control Authority (SEAACA).
In order to purchase a license your dog must have a valid Rabies Certificate. If your dog has been spayed or neutered you must also have a Certificate of Sterility in order to receive the spay/neuter discount. While dogs are not required to be sterilized, dogs that have been spayed or neutered qualify for a lower fee for their license and annual renewals. Residents who are handicapped and low income senior citizens may also qualify for a discounted fee.
You can take your Rabies Certificate and Certificate of Sterility (if applicable) to the SEAACA Office located at 9777 SEAACA Street, in Downey. If you have any questions regarding dog licenses please call SEAACA at (562-803-3301) or visit www.seaaca.org.
